"Dog Eats Toe" script

V/O: Jerry had an infection in his toe, which he refused to have treated.
<J. limping across room. He sits in chair to pull off sock. c/u on his face. J. has spiked, thinning hair and a SF bullseye. Sock is removed to reveal grotesquely infected toe>
Scene 2
V/O: His wife, Rosie, had asked him for a month to go to a doctor, but he wouldn't go.
<c/u of Rosie. Some kind of Asian wife. Very short, kinky hair, thick glasses, etc.>
< she's shrugging, and screaming, pointing to Jerry's oozing toe. More screaming. >
< Jerry sitting on a couch. Rosie in background fussing. >
<c/u Dog's nose comes up to camera, sniffing>
Scene 3
V/O: A few weekends ago, the couple went out to celebrate Rosie becoming an American citizen.
< c/u of dead duck. pan out to exterior of Chinese restaurant. sign above restaurant says "Congrats, Rosie" "Russel" crossed out >
< party inside. fireworks. body flying? >
"I had probably five or six beers," Douthett said.
< c/u bottom of beer mug. Jerry drains it, revealing his face. >
< cut to shot of hand slamming down bottle next to 5 others. Drunken laughter, slight sound of Rosie fussing in Asian - Mexican in BG. dog bark? >
"Then we went next door. They have these huge margaritas, think they're 32 ounces, "
Old Timey Bartender serves GIGANTIC golden margarita.
"....and I killed it."
<guzzling sounds>
<Jerry guzzles it down. Puts drink down. <slam!> Smiles drunkenly. (gold carbonation bubble transition? >
<thud s/fx>
Scene 4
V/O: "The drinks sedated him enough that he fell asleep when he went home."
<v/o says "Jerry stumbles into bed". Anim of Jerry passing out (hard) on front, cement steps (s/fx) >
Scene 5
V/O: "Rosie was in another room."
< Rosie hops into another room >
Scene 6
"I woke up <scene blurs into clarity> and the dog was laying alongside my foot, <Kiko lying next to foot happily, dreaming(?), blood on his muzzle>
then I looked and blood was everywhere," Douthett recalled. < cut to blood on floor, walls, figurines, Farrah poster, etc >
"I ran to the bathroom and screamed for Rosie to come in. < panicky, hyperventilating, sobbing Jerry -- screaming!! >
I went to the bathroom, rinsed it off and it was gone." < rinsed off foot reveals gnawed off toe - toe bone >
Scene 7
V/O: "As for the dog, Kiko, Douthett calls him a hero."
< c/u of stupid dog face. tongue out, licking balls, etc>
Scent 8
"It wasn't an aggressive attack. ((night time) Kiko peeks up over the bed, looking around) He pretty much just ate the infection (Kiko puts a little salt on the toe, puts a napkin around his neck before he starts to eat), so he saved my life," Douthett said. "I probably never would have gone in."
Scene 9
"Maybe he thought it was not part of Jerry's body," Rosie said, "that it was a dead animal laying on the bed, but he chewed off the infected part so he knew when to stop, which was great!!"
Scene 10
V/O: Kiko is still with the family but under observation by authorities to make sure the dog is not a menace.
Scene 11
V/O: Douthett found out he is diabetic and said he has given up drinking ..... at least for now.
